The purpose of this document is to familiarize the buyer with the safe operation principles of EVA car mats. In accordance with the EU GPSR regulation, the manufacturer is obliged to warn the user about potential hazards arising from the improper use of the product within a vehicle. Adherence to these guidelines directly reduces the likelihood of accidents and protects the lives of the driver and passengers.
Based on the declarations of the primary raw material manufacturers, all components used in the production of "TopCarMats" products are safe and fully comply with the requirements of the EU Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation No 1907/2006. The materials are safe for daily contact and do not release toxic or health-hazardous substances.
Surface Base and Textures (Diamond, Honeycomb, Petal): Manufactured from factory-prepared ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam with a choice of diamond, honeycomb, or petal structural patterns. This material is impermeable to liquids, features shock-absorbing properties, and retains dirt and water within its deep cells, preventing them from spilling onto the vehicle's floor.
Bottom Side of the Product: Textured polymer layer designed for primary grip with the vehicle's original carpeting, restricting the free sliding of the product.
Fixing Units and Auxiliary Fastening: Factory fasteners (clips) are included and positioned strictly according to the specific vehicle model. For vehicle models that do not feature factory-installed mounting anchorages, Velcro (hook-and-loop) strips are additionally sewn to the bottom of the mats to stabilize their position. Due to manufacturing standards, these Velcro strips are sewn onto all car mat sets.
Wear Protection (Heel Pad): The product features a special rubber heel pad made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) material, positioned in the area of most active friction. It is engineered to protect the mat from wear and tear in the exact zone where it most frequently wears through during driving, thereby extending the service life of the entire product.
Left Foot Protection (Footrest Flap): A specially designed and integrated flap for the left footrest area. Its function is to completely cover the rest zone and effectively protect the vehicle's original carpeting from the ingress of water, salts, snow, and dirt.
Protective Contour: Edging made of durable polyester threads and polypropylene tape, protecting the edges from abrasion, mechanical destruction, and delamination.
III. OPERATING REQUIREMENTS, POTENTIAL HAZARDS, AND HEALTH RISKS
To avoid severe health impairments, the user must strictly adhere to the guidelines specified below. Failure to comply with any requirement poses a direct threat to safety.
A. Risks and Consequences during the Installation Stage
Model Compatibility: The mats must be selected strictly according to the vehicle's make, model, and body type. Using a product with incorrect dimensions will cause it to slide or curl. This results in a loss of vehicle control, and the potential consequences include accidents leading to severe bodily injuries or death.
Positioning inside the Cabin: It is forbidden to interchange the driver's and passenger's mats. Swapping their positions causes the product to become unstable, resulting in foot slippage and traffic accidents, which can cause severe head and brain traumas.
Geometric Check: Prior to installation, it is necessary to visually assess whether the mat fits perfectly into the floor footwell and whether the left footrest flap accurately covers the protective zone. Excessive or insufficient dimensions lead to the twisting of the product. This causes the moving pedals to jam on the road, leading to craniocerebral traumas during collisions.
Compliance with Instructions: Perform the installation strictly according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Unauthorized placement reduces the stability of the product, and if the mat shifts, a risk of a traffic accident arises, causing severe spinal injuries.
Removal of Foreign Objects: Before placing the mat, clean the floor of any objects that may get trapped underneath it. Objects under the mat lift and destabilize it, leading to sudden brake blocking and lower limb (leg) fractures and traumas.
Prohibition of Layering: Only one mat may be used in a single location. It is strictly forbidden to lay a new mat on top of an old one (whether rubber or textile). This destabilizes the floor surface, causes the pedals to jam, and leads to severe traffic accidents resulting in head injuries.
Modification of the Construction: It is forbidden for the user to trim or otherwise alter the product's shape, the left footrest flap, or the factory fastener locations. Modifying the construction voids the safety features, causes the mat to shift, and results in health impacts due to severe traffic accidents.
B. Risks and Consequences during Daily Operation
Fastener Maintenance: Check the fastening clips (fasteners) after every extended trip. Loose or broken fasteners fail to hold the product in place; therefore, the driver's foot may slip off a pedal, causing an accident with multiple internal organ injuries.
Cleanliness of the Bottom Side: Regularly clean the side of the mat that comes into contact with the vehicle's floor. Dirt and sand eliminate the anti-slip properties, causing the mat to shift suddenly during braking, which leads to accidents and chest traumas.
Moisture Control: The mat may only be placed back into the cabin after it has dried completely. Retained moisture causes shoe slippage or the propagation of mold, leading to respiratory tract infections, allergic reactions, and traumas due to slipping.
Resistance to Household Chemicals: Use only cleaners specifically intended for automotive use. The use of incompatible, aggressive chemical substances causes the degradation of the material. If the mat disintegrates while driving, it poses a direct risk to the driver's health or life.
Inspection after Washing: After performing chemical or high-pressure cleaning, it is mandatory to inspect the integrity of the product, the TPE heel pad, and the edging. Damaged material no longer ensures safety, and the foot may slip, leading to spinal and arm/leg traumas.
Transportation of Pets: When transporting pets, it is necessary to clean the mat's texturized cells (diamond, honeycomb, petal) from hair and dirt. These contaminants eliminate the grip between shoe soles and the surface, causing the foot to slip, which leads to knee and ankle joint traumas and sprains.
Heavy Cargo: Check the condition of the mat and the heel pad after transporting heavy objects. Any resulting deformations weaken the fastening, causing the product to shift suddenly, which leads to collisions with severe bodily injuries.
Mechanical Damage: Protect the product from sharp tools. Punctures or cuts destroy the material's structure, causing the mat to lose its rigidity, shift, and lead to severe transport accidents.
Storage during Non-Operation: If the mats are not in use or are being stored, keep them exclusively in a dry and well-ventilated room. In a damp environment, mold begins to develop, which causes severe allergies and respiratory tract diseases to the user.
Commercial (Duty) Use: Constantly check the condition of the mats in intensively used vehicles (taxis, ride-hailing services, corporate fleets). Faster wear and tear of the material causes sudden product failure and a risk of severe concussions and traumas.
Prohibition of Using Damaged Fasteners: Do not use the product if its fasteners (mountings) are broken or worn out. Damaged mountings fail to hold the mat; the fasteners can loosen and block the pedals, leading to traffic accidents with critical injuries.
Velcro Fastening Specifics and Vehicle Floor Carpeting: The user must take into consideration that the sewn Velcro strip interacts differently with original vehicle floor coverings. If the vehicle cabin features needle-felt (felt) carpeting, the Velcro strips grip firmly. However, if the floor carpeting is velour, the Velcro fasteners may completely fail to adhere due to the structural characteristics of the fabric texture. Furthermore, if the vehicle's factory fixing anchorages are broken, damaged, or entirely absent, and the Velcro fasteners do not adhere due to the velour carpet type, operation of the car mat without auxiliary fastening is strictly prohibited. If the mat slides freely while on the road, an imminent danger of pedal jamming arises, leading to a loss of control, severe accidents, spinal injuries, and crushing traumas of the lower limbs. In such cases, the buyer must immediately contact the "TopCarMats" administration personally—we will provide an individual mat fastening solution to fully resolve the issue.
C. Risks of Environmental Factors and Special Conditions
Temperature Peaks: Do not leave the mats on a directly heated surface. Heat can deform the shape, and a warped mat results in a loss of vehicle control and severe spinal injuries.
Thermal Fluctuations: Check the elasticity of the product after severe frost or extreme heat. Altered material rigidity can reduce the product's grip, which increases the risk of traffic accidents causing severe spinal injuries.
Consequences of the Winter Season: Thoroughly inspect the mats in the spring. Accumulated layers of road salt and hardened dirt within the cells eliminate surface traction, increasing the risk of footwear slippage and leg traumas.
Vehicle Change: If the vehicle is replaced with a new one, it is mandatory to re-evaluate the compatibility of the mats. Improper fit increases the risk of displacement, causes pedal jamming, and leads to severe collisions resulting in internal organ traumas.
Impacts and Vibrations: Check the fasteners after driving into a deep pothole or experiencing severe vibration. Jolt shocks can loosen the fasteners, causing the mat to unexpectedly shift beneath the pedals and result in a sudden accident.
D. Risks during the Maintenance and Disposal Stage
Timely Replacement: The product must be replaced at the first signs of wear and tear or if the TPE heel pad ruptures. A damaged mat no longer performs its protective function, leading to an increased risk of auto accidents.
Persons with Disabilities: Particular attention must be paid to mat stability in vehicles modified for drivers with disabilities. If a mat shifts, exiting the vehicle becomes complicated or may cause tripping, leading to falls, additional traumas, or complications during emergency evacuation.
Fleet Maintenance: Shorten the mat replacement interval in corporate vehicles. Prolonged use under heavy-duty conditions accelerates material wear, causing the product to shift at the most critical driving moments.
Consultation: Always contact the manufacturers if questions arise regarding fastening or non-adhering hook-and-loop strips. Use contrary to the intended purpose results in health-hazardous incidents, an increased risk of accidents, and physical bodily injuries.
Interaction with Representatives: If the user does not understand the instructions, they cannot use the product safely. A lack of understanding leads to incorrect operation, causing instability on the road, injuries, and traumas.
IV. RECOMMENDED CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE METHODOLOGY
Dry and Wet Cleaning: The mats can be shaken out, vacuumed, and washed with a high-pressure water jet (e.g., at self-service car washes).
Use of Chemical Agents: Standard automotive shampoos are suitable for cleaning. It is strictly forbidden to use harsh industrial solvents, acetone, or chlorine, which can destroy the polymer structure.
Drying: Washed mats must be allowed to dry completely before being reinstalled into the vehicle. It is forbidden to place damp products into the vehicle to prevent moisture accumulation in the cabin and the risk of mold.
Disposal: Worn-out products must be discarded into containers or collection sites designated for plastic or bulky waste, in compliance with local municipal regulations.
